'Confusion' at Mayo county town car park junction

A SAFETY risk to pedestrians at Market Square in Castlebar needs to be examined.

Traffic leaving the car park at the credit union is turning left and right, and it is the same for those entering it.

It is causing confusion, says Councillor Al McDonnell.

People are confused and feel there is a safety risk and he requested it be looked at from an engineering point of view.

There is also an issue at nearby Main Street where traffic is turning right down the one-way Shambles Street, Councillor McDonnell told a municipal district meeting.

Increased signage is probably needed at the location, he said, though his colleague Councillor Ger Deere said sat nav isn't helping the situation.
