New Erris Chamber chairperson's vision for sustainable growth and unity
ERRIS Chamber of Commerce has announced the appointment of Brian Bakeberg as its new chairperson, succeeding Damien Langan, who completed a successful tenure of several years.
Bakeberg, a seasoned entrepreneur originally from South Africa and now proudly Irish, brings extensive experience in building and transforming businesses across diverse industries in both Africa, globally and Ireland. He is also the co-founder alongside his wife Orla of bp2w®, a multinational culture change, online employee engagement solutions business and has started the first ever vineyard in Erris, Temerity Wine Estate.
"I am deeply honoured to be entrusted with this role," said Bakeberg. "Damien Langan has built a strong foundation, and I intend to build upon that by fostering collaboration and driving sustainable growth within the Erris business community.
“My goal is to ensure that the Chamber is a vital resource for all its members, advocating for their interests and supporting their success."
He outlined his vision for the Chamber, focusing on promoting local enterprises, attracting investment, and creating opportunities for networking and knowledge sharing. He emphasised the importance of a unified approach to addressing the challenges and opportunities facing the Erris region.
The Chamber also welcomed new committee members: Stephen Conroy, Kevin Carey, Pat Cowman, Tisha Gallagher, Anthony Healy, Neal Doherty, Padraic McIntyre and Lorraine Burnell, each bringing a new perspective and expertise to support the Chamber’s mission.
Outgoing chairman Damien Langan will continue to support the Chamber by serving as a special advisor ex officio on the committee, ensuring a seamless transition and providing valuable guidance going forward.
Langan commented: "It has been a privilege to serve as chairperson, and I am confident that Brian's leadership will take the Chamber to even greater heights. I look forward to supporting him in any way I can."
Bakeberg added: "I am excited to work alongside this talented group of individuals. Their contributions will be invaluable as we move forward.
"I look forward to working with the new committee and all Chamber members to build a stronger and more prosperous future for Erris.
"Under my leadership, the Erris Chamber of Commerce will focus on becoming a leading voice for the business community and a catalyst for economic prosperity in the region. I encourage all businesses of any nature within Erris to contact me directly at brian@errischamber.ie so that we can unify all businesses and speak as one.”
