Classroom extension for south Mayo school progresses to construction
Minister of State Alan Dillon said he was delighted to receive confirmation that construction can now begin on a much-needed extra classroom for a south Mayo primary school.
He stated: “I am delighted to receive confirmation that approval has been given to the Board of Management at Robeen National School, Hollymount, to begin construction on their much anticipated extra classroom accommodation.
“I have worked tirelessly with principal Edel Canny and the Board of Management to ensure that this project is progressed. They received approval for the extra classroom last year and following the submission of all relevant documents in relation to the tender process, they were anxious to progress to construction.”
Minister Dillon added: “I am delighted that this project can now begin construction over the coming weeks and will hopefully be finished before the end of the year. This is a five-teacher co-educational school who have a dedicated and hardworking staff.”
He concluded: “I want to wish Ms. Canny, her staff, students and Board of Management the best of luck, and I look forward to seeing the new extension opened and in use by the school community.”
