Mayo town unveiling Ireland's first Blue Tree Project
KILTIMAGH will unveil Ireland's first Blue Tree Project this weekend.
The Blue Tree Project is a unique mental health initiative to encourage conversation and reminds us all that 'It's OK to not be OK'.
Located in the Sculpture Park, the blue tree will be unveiled this Saturday (July 12) at 4 p.m. by Michael (Dundee) Roache.
The Blue Tree Project was first established in Australia and is now a global movement, sparking vital conversations about mental health and encouraging people to speak up when they are struggling.
The Kiltimagh Blue Tree is a visual reminder that no one is alone and that it is essential to check in on loved ones and friends who may be struggling with mental health issues.
Along with the tree, signage will also be unveiled with QR codes for local and national services.
Chris and Marian Glynn are the project leaders and they have been in contact with the Blue Tree Project team in Australia.
The blue paint pots have been out in Kiltimagh this week, with the local Tidy Towns committee sharing photos of Chris, Michael and Ann Gavin getting the tree ready for the unveiling.
Kiltimagh is be the first community in Ireland to adopt this unique initiative, which is supported by Kiltimagh IRD and Kiltimagh Tourism.
There are currently 1,434 registered Blue Trees across the world.
