Mayo under Status Yellow high temperature warning from noon

A Status Yellow high temperature warning will be in place for Mayo from noon.

The warning applies to all of the country with maximum temperatures in excess of 27°C combined with night-time minima in excess of 15°C expected.

The warning is in place until 6 a.m. Sunday.

Met Éireann has highlighted potential impacts, including water safety issues due to increased use of lakes/beaches, possible forest fires, uncomfortable sleeping conditions and heat stress.

A Status Yellow thunderstorm warning has also been issued for Connaught from 3 p.m. on Sunday, with heavy, thundery downpours in parts.

That warning is in place from 3 to 10 p.m.
