Fond tributes to Mayo man who lost his life following tragic accident
The funeral arrangements have been announced for Michael (Mick) Mulchrone, Lakeview, Knockglass, Newport.
A widely popular personality, he died yesterday from injuries sustained in a traffic accident two days earlier.
Michael will be deeply missed by his heartbroken family: wife Margaret (née Moran), son Keith and daughter Amy, sisters Ann (Tom Ruane, Castlebar), Mary (Pádraig Marrey, Westport), Teresa (Westport), Catherine (Westport), Margaret (Headford), brothers Frank (Breaffy), Patrick (Claremorris) and Martin (Perth), nephews and nieces, cousins, extended family, neighbours and his wide circle friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.
He was predeceased by his parents Francis and Mary Mulchrone.
Mick will repose at St. Dominick’s Funeral Home, Newport, on Friday from 5 until 7:30 p.m.
Removal from his residence on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. to St Patrick’s Church, Newport, for Requiem Mass at 11 a.m., with burial afterwards in Ballintubber Abbey Cemetery.
The Mulchrone family extended thanks to everybody for their co-operation and consideration at this difficult time.
Tributes are being paid to Mick on social media where he was described as 'one of life's true gentlemen who will be sorely missed'.
"He brought joy to all who knew him," another stated.
A further tribute observed: "A man full of nature and love for his family."
Western Lakes Cycling Club has extended its deepest condolences to Mary Mulchrone and the Mulchone family on their immeasurable loss.
"Our thoughts are prayers are with you at this extremely difficult time," the club added.
Aged in his 50s, the deceased was involved in a two-vehicle collision at Castlebar Road, Newport, last Sunday.
He was driving a motorcycle when the accident, involving a car, took place.
A man in his 60s was arrested in connection with the garda investigation and he was subsequently released pending further investigations.
