Mayo's Mark Byrne re-signs for Treaty United

Treaty United have announced the re-signing of Mayo native Mark Byrne ahead of the 2026 season.

Byrne came through the Sligo Rovers academy and made the breakthrough to senior football at The Showgrounds.

The forward went on to make 40 appearances for the Bit o’ Red, including in a UEFA Europa Conference League first leg tie against Icelandic side FH Hafnarfjörður.

Byrne made the move to Shannonside in February of 2024, and has played a crucial role in his two seasons at Treaty so far.

In 2024 he made 23 appearances for the club and grabbed seven goals along with four assists in all competitions. This year saw him make 32 appearances, hitting the net seven times again and claiming six assists.

Speaking to Treaty United FC, Byrne said: “I’m delighted to re-sign for my third season at Treaty. I really enjoyed last year, we made good progress, and I’m looking forward to building on that and helping the team push on this year.”

Manager Tommy Barrett commented: “Delighted to have Mark back, as he has proven to be a valuable player for us over the last two seasons. Lots of quality and able to play in numerous positions.

“An intelligent, hard-working player and a very good person, as well as a positive role model for the younger players in the group.”
