Mayo and national politics under the microscope in latest podcast

Aidan Crowley was joined by journalist Caoimhín Rowland and Connaught Telegraph columnist Dr Richard Martin for a wide-ranging discussion on local and national political issues in the latest episode of All Ireland Whingers.

The discussion focused in part on the most recent Westport/Belmullet Municipal District meeting, with debate around what Aidan Crowley described as “populist politics” from opposition representatives.

Dr Martin questioned the effectiveness of community activism when it comes to influencing genuine local political decision-making.

National politics also featured prominently, with the panel examining the implications of the latest opinion poll for Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin.

With Aidan Crowley arguing that recent polling does not necessarily reflect how voters will ultimately cast their ballots at election time.
