Woman facing shoplifting charge over alleged Mayo e-vape theft

A Castlebar woman has elected to have a shoplifting charge dealt with at the District Court.

Una McDonagh, of 11 The Grove, Castlebar, appeared before Castlebar District Court on a charge contrary to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act.

Evidence of arrest, charge and caution were handed into the court.

Judge Sandra Murphy was told the alleged offence occurred on September 15, 2025, at Corrigan’s Stores, Ballintubber, where it is alleged that an assortment of e-vapes to the value of €80 was stolen.

McDonagh confirmed she was electing to have the matter dealt with in the District Court.

Judge Murphy said disclosure would be required before the case could proceed further.

The matter was adjourned to April 15, with McDonagh remanded on continuing bail for plea or hearing date.

Legal aid was granted subject to a statement of means.
