Dry start before cloud and showers move into Mayo on Wednesday

Wednesday, February 4 will begin dry and bright across Mayo, with good spells of sunshine early in the day.

Cloud will increase through the afternoon, bringing the chance of a few showers later on.

Highest temperatures are forecast to reach between 8 and 10 degrees, with moderate easterly winds.

In the national outlook, low pressure to the southwest of Ireland will continue to bring unsettled conditions this week.

Heavy and persistent rainfall is expected to affect southern and eastern areas in particular, with flooding likely along rivers and in coastal locations due to already saturated ground, high river levels and elevated tides.

Wednesday night will remain mostly cloudy. Rain will feed northwards from the south across southern counties, while further north, including Mayo, conditions are expected to be drier with some clear spells.

Overnight temperatures will range from 3 to 8 degrees, with moderate to fresh easterly winds.
