Marvellous St. Patrick’s Day parade planned for Mayo town

The town of Newport is preparing for a big celebration as the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade takes place, promising to be bigger, brighter, and more vibrant than ever before.

The Newport parade will be proudly led by the Tonragee Pipe Band, setting the tone for an afternoon filled with colour, music, and community spirit. Local businesses, community groups, clubs, and organisations will join the procession, showcasing the very best of Newport’s community pride.

The town will be alive with colour and celebration throughout the day. Festivities begin with live music from 2 p.m., with the main parade commencing at at 3 p.m.

This year’s Grand Marshall is the Grainne Uaile Festival Queen for 2025, Rachel Knox.

There is something for all the family, with face painting and entertainment throughout the afternoon.
