David Vesey hosts acclaimed solo piano concert at Mayo venue
Irish pianist and composer David Vesey will bring his acclaimed solo piano programme Carolan Reimagined to the Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar, on Thursday, March 26, at 8 p.m. Inspired by his widely praised album Carolan Reflections, this special concert offers audiences a captivating exploration of the music of Turlough O'Carolan, Ireland’s most celebrated harpist-composer of the late 17th and early 18th centuries.
Through expressive and imaginative piano arrangements, Vesey breathes new life into Carolan’s timeless melodies, blending classical pianism with the spirit of Irish traditional music.
Written, arranged, and performed by Vesey, Carolan Reflections reimagines Carolan’s works in a way that honours their origins while revealing new musical perspectives. The music captures the lyrical beauty, rhythmic vitality, and emotional depth that have ensured Carolan’s enduring place in Ireland’s cultural heritage.
With the concert now approaching, audiences are encouraged to book early for what promises to be an intimate and memorable evening of music. Whether you are deeply familiar with Irish traditional music or discovering these melodies for the first time, Carolan Reimagined offers a unique and engaging musical journey.
