Mayo Young Sports Stars: Special year reflected in superb award winners

A special year for sport in Mayo is reflected in the winners at The Connaught Telegraph Mayo Young Sportstars Awards 2025, taking place this evening (Friday) in Breaffy House Resort, Castlebar.

Organised to recognise local athletes aged Under 23 who have become high achievers, the winners were selected with the help of readers and our dedicated adjudication panel.

We express huge gratitude to our readers for taking the time out to assist in selecting the superb young athletes who perform to a very high standard week in and week out.

The Connaught Telegraph Young Sportstars Awards were revived three years ago, when the 2022 winners were honoured in Breaffy House Resort following a break of a couple of years as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Each year since then we have highlighted individual athletes, groups and teams in various categories, with presentations made at the annual gala ceremony.

The award winners have all been announced apart from the overall male and female athletes of the year, who will be presented with the Darragh Doherty Memorial Cup and Melissa Patterson Memorial Cup respectively at the end of this evening's ceremony.

Tickets have sold out for the presentation event, ensuring a lively atmosphere at The Connaught Telegraph Mayo Young Sportstars Awards 2025 in Breaffy House Resort this evening.
