People want answers on efforts to improve safety on Mayo bypass
NEARLY €1 million has been allocated for safety works on the N5 Swinford bypass and people want to know where it has been spent.
Local councillors Gerry Murray and Adrian Forkan raised the matter at a municipal district meeting, with the Kiltimagh representative asking: “What is the plan?”
Requesting an update on a study on the route, Councillor Murray said he was anxious to see it advancing sooner rather than later.
There are junctions that are accident black spots and he wanted to know what solutions are being proposed.
Councillor Forkan said €600,000 was allocated in the last year and €300,000 previously and people were wondering what is it being spent on.
“Is there a plan? What's the story with it,” he asked.
The members were told an update will be sought from the roads design office for their next meeting.
