Raise pedestrian crossings in Mayo to slow down traffic

PEDESTRIAN crossings in Mayo need to be of raised design.

The request for consistency with 'table top' crossings has been made by Councillor Michael Loftus.

They are raised in some towns but that's not consistent throughout the county, and they are needed to slow people down at crossings, he said.

A crossing in Ballina was raised after a fatality. But it needs to be done across the county and he has asked the council to look at it and implement a project to raise all crossings as soon as possible.
