Groups in Mayo invited to apply for Lidl Green Fund

Lidl Ireland is excited to announce that Mayo applications are now officially open for the 2026 Lidl Green Fund. Following the immense success of the program’s debut, the retailer is inviting community groups, schools, and local organisations across County Mayo to apply for funding to bring their environmental and sustainability visions to life. In 2025, Castlebar Social Services CLG was named the county winner of the inaugural fund. The organisation was awarded a €3,000 grant to support its Garden Space Revamp Project, an initiative dedicated to enhancing biodiversity and improving community well-being. Deirdre Waldron, Manager of Castlebar Social Services, commented:

"By focusing on biodiversity and sensory planting, we are creating a sustainable legacy that supports the mental and physical well-being of our older community members. This grant allows us to breathe new life into our outdoor space, turning it into a sanctuary where our service users can connect with nature and each other. We are incredibly grateful to Lidl Ireland for recognising the value of this project and helping us make it a reality."

In partnership with Business in the Community Ireland, the Lidl Green Fund is designed to champion grassroots climate action. The fund provides financial support to initiatives that promote biodiversity, sustainable resource management, and healthy, eco-conscious living within local communities.

Lidl Ireland invites Mayo applications from Registered Charities, Primary and Secondary Schools, and Community and Youth Groups.

Projects should focus on key environmental pillars, including climate and biodiversity, circular economy (waste reduction), and sustainable living.
