Mayo county town mourning passing of Ena Fitzgerald

The death has taken place of Ena Fitzgerald, Fortfield, Castlebar, and formerly of Kilmeena, Westport.

She passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at Mayo University Hospital yesterday evening surrounded by her loving family.

The news has evoked a tremendous sense of loss in the community where she was held in high esteem.

A member of a widely-known and popular family, Ena will be fondly remembered as a courteous, affable and warm personality who was dedicated to family life.

She is deeply regretted by her devoted husband Christy, a former elected member of Castlebar Urban Council, her sons Michael, Christopher, Declan, Keith and Damian, daughters-in-law Pauline, Connie, Fiona, Linda and Caroline, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.

Her remains will repose at Coady's Funeral Home, Castlebar, on Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.

Requiem Mass takes place in the Church of the Holy Rosary on Thursday at 11.30 a.m. prior to removal to Shannon Crematorium.
