Double delight for Mayo native at Basketball Ireland awards ceremony

Mayo native Hazel Finn was a double winner at the Basketball Ireland Annual Awards and Hall of Fame ceremony at the Osprey Hotel, Naas, on Saturday.

Finn, from Kiltimagh, was named the Domino's Women's Super League Young Player of the Year for her displays with Trinity Meteors and also the Division 1 Female Collegiate Player of the Year as member of the Trinity College Dublin team.

There was further delight in Mayo as Castlebar's Cathy Kilkenny was recognised as the NBRA Referee of the Year.

Elsewhere, Ken Black, Jerome Westbooks, Michelle Fahy and Shane Coughlan were formally inducted into the Basketball Ireland Hall of Fame at the ceremeny. They take their places as the 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th members of the Hall of Fame.

In total, 57 awards were handed out, with former Ireland men’s head coach Mark Keenan and decorated referee Maciej Nazimek handed President’s Lifetime Achievement Awards.
