Clampdown on illegal parking in Mayo town's disabled bays confirmed as fines issued

Three motorists have been fined €150 each for parking in disabled bays in Ballyhaunis without a valid permit.

Members of An Garda Siochana made the detections over the weekend.

A spokesperson said: "We hear many excuses but the reality is you have no excuse to park in a disable parking bay without a valid permit.

"Disabled bays exist for those who genuinely need them — not for convenience, not for “just a minute” and not for anyone who thinks the rules don’t apply to them.

"Fixed charge penalty notices of €150 have been issued."
