Mayo young people shine at No Name Club national awards
Two young Mayo people were recognised at national level at the No Name Club National Youth Awards Gala Dinner in Tullamore last weekend.
Claremorris and Crossmolina No Name Clubs both had finalists at the event, held before a packed function room in the Tullamore Court Hotel on Saturday, May 16.
The top honour of the night went to Simona Gaubyte of Claremorris No Name Club, who was named joint recipient of the Host of the Year Award alongside Tegan Kirwan of Finglas No Name Club. The award recognises young people who have shown exceptional commitment to their communities through volunteering, personal development and their contribution to No Name Club.
Gaubyte, a Transition Year student at Mount Saint Michael secondary school in Claremorris, was also recently nominated for a "30 Under 30" Young Tech Innovators list for 2026.
John Lynott of Crossmolina No Name Club was recognised as a national finalist on the night, which welcomed young people and volunteers from clubs across Ireland.
Chairperson of the No Name Club Board of Directors Dr Garrett Keengahan said the awards were "an occasion to celebrate and to recognise that through our weekly club activities we successfully empower, engage and elevate all of our young people."
Founded in 1978, No Name Club provides alcohol and drug-free social spaces for young people aged 15 to 18 across Ireland.
