Water park proposal for Mayo lake needs to be revisited
PLANS for a water park facility on Lough Conn need to be revisited.
The first attempt didn't materialise with insurance proving to be an obstacle.
Loughs Conn and Cullin are among the destinations in the new Wild Mayo Destination and Experience Development Plan and they have big potential, Councillor Michael Loftus said in a discussion on the plan at a council economic and enterprise committee meeting.
There was big interest in having a water park when the idea was first mooted, but insurance was one of the things that stopped it at the time.
It has to be looked at again, said Councillor Loftus, who said it would be a great asset for visitors and also the local community.
The councillor also queried having a platform that is no longer in use being moved to Conn to support the idea of holding triathlons on the lake.
