Passing of 'true gentleman' Michael Howley is mourned in Mayo

The death of Michael Howley, Watersville, Pontoon Road, Castlebar, and late of Kiltimagh, is deeply regretted in the community.

He died peacefully yesterday at Mayo Hospice, Castlebar.

He is sadly missed by his heartbroken wife Jacinta, sons Damian and Brian, daughter-in-law Lisa, granddaughter Fia, sisters Susan, Margaret, Veronica and Bernie, brothers Benny, Patrick and John, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.

Michael was predeceased by his parents Gerald and Josephine, sister Theresa, infant brother Jerome and sister-in-law Mary (Fahey).

Many warm tributes are being paid on social media to Michael who ran his own appliance repairs, refrigeration and air conditioning business for many years.

One stated: "An expert in his profession who was always there to solve the problem with efficiency, courtesy and a smile."

Another stated: "It was a pleasure to have known, and to have worked with, Michael on various projects over a long number of years."

Other tributes described Michael as 'a true gentleman'.

Michael will repose at his residence, Watersville, Pontoon Road, Castlebar, this evening (Thursday) from 5 to 7 p.m.

Removal on Friday morning at 10.15 a.m. for Requiem Mass at 11 a.m. in the Church of the Holy Rosary followed by burial in the New Cemetery.
