Tributes to much-loved Mayo nurse Kay Doherty on her passing
The death of Kay (Catherine) Doherty (née Dee), Deerpark Upper, Belcarra, and formerly of Kilgabriel Clashmore Co. Waterford, is being widely grieved in the community.
The deceased, a widely popular personality, was aged 64 and she worked as a nurse at the Day Centre in Sacred Heart Hospital in Castlebar.
Fond tributes are being paid to her online.
One stated: "I have many happy memories of Kay as a person of faith with a kind and caring disposition."
"Kay was the essence of kindness which reflected in her nursing," another said.
A further tribute observed: "Kay had such an amazing aura to her and lit up any room she walked into. I was so grateful to have known her."
Kay will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Sean, sons Joe and Simon, daughter Rachel, daughters-in-law Tara and Rhiannon, and granddaughter Ellie.
She is also survived by her siblings Margaret, Breda, Tommy, Richie and Helen, her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, cousins, as well as her many nieces and nephews, neighbours and wide circle of friends.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.
Kay was predeceased by her parents Madge and Michael, brother Michael, parents-in-law Tom and Annie, sisters-in-law Sandra Dee and Marie Cannon.
Kay will repose at Belcarra Community Centre from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. this evening (Wednesday).
Remains will arrive at St. Anne's Church, Belcarra, on Thursday at 11.30 a.m. for Funeral Mass at 12 noon.
Afterwards, Kay will be laid to rest in Guesdian Cemetery, Belcarra.
