Westward art exhibition to take place at Mayo venue

The C.A.K.E. Collective is a group of twelve emerging artists brought together through their studies at Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Galway. United by a shared commitment to Creativity, Art, Knowledge, and Expression, the collective embraces diverse approaches to making art, with each artist bringing their own experiences, materials, and perspectives to the conversation.

The group is delighted to announce that their exhibition titled ‘Westward’ will be held in the Foyer Gallery at the Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar, from Tuesday, August 18 to Saturday, September 19. There will also be an opportunity to meet the artists at the exhibition on Saturday, August 29, at 2 p.m.

For ‘Westward’, the artists respond to the idea of the west as both place and metaphor. Through painting and mixed media, the exhibition explores themes of landscape, memory, migration, belonging, labour, and resilience. Together, the works present the west not as a fixed destination, but as a shared orientation - one that is personal, evolving, and open to interpretation.
