Final call for Mayo sustainability leaders to enter Repak Resource Awards

Repak is issuing a final call for businesses, community groups and individuals across Mayo to enter the 2026 Repak Resource Awards, with entries closing on Monday, August 31, 2026.

The annual awards recognise organisations and individuals delivering meaningful environmental impact through waste prevention, recycling, reuse, refill, resource efficiency and circular economy initiatives.

With the deadline fast approaching, Repak is encouraging organisations of every size and sector to showcase the work they are doing to use resources more efficiently and support Ireland’s transition towards a more circular economy.

The awards are free to enter and provide an opportunity for entrants to gain national recognition for their achievements, celebrate the people behind their initiatives and share examples of environmental best practice.

Repak is encouraging businesses, community organisations and sustainability leaders across Mayo to put forward the initiatives making a measurable difference in their organisations and communities.

Zoe Kavanagh, CEO of Repak, said: “Ireland is making great strides towards a circular economy and that progress is down to the efforts of people across the length and breadth of the country to drive positive environmental change. It’s only right that we celebrate the efforts of these organisations, community groups and individuals, which led us to creating the Repak Resource Awards.

“With the closing date approaching, we want to make sure that businesses, organisations and communities in Mayo do not miss the opportunity to have their sustainability achievements recognised on a national stage.”

The 2026 Repak Resource Awards feature the following categories: Battery and WEEE Champion (sponsored by ERP); Environmental Education Initiative (sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency); Innovation in Reuse and Refill, product or service (sponsored by Dublin Waste to Energy); Community Sustainability Initiative (sponsored by the Local Authorities of Ireland); Waste Prevention/Reduction Initiative (sponsored by Panda); Best Waste Recovery Operator and Facility Award

(sponsored by the Irish Waste Management Association); Best Recovery Operator Innovation (sponsored by DNV); Innovation in Sustainable Packaging Design

(sponsored by AMCS); Innovation in SUP Reduction/Removal (sponsored by the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment); Best Deposit Return Initiative (sponsored by Re-turn); Tyre Champion (sponsored by Circol ELT); Sustainability Team of the Year (sponsored by Producer Register Limited); Business Recycling Champion (sponsored by WEEE Ireland).

Entries should highlight the initiative undertaken, the environmental challenge it sought to address, and the measurable impact or results achieved.
