Mayo All-Ireland champion makes surprise return to cheer on schoolmates

Kobe McDonald made a surprise return to club football grounds this afternoon, turning up at Bofeenaun to watch Lahardane MacHales overcome Louisburgh in Intermediate action.

Lahardane MacHales ran out 0-18 – 1-12 winners over the west Mayo side in an enthralling encounter.

The Crossmolina Deel Rovers man has come home from Australia, where he has signed for AFL side St. Kilda.

The All-Ireland winner was on hand to cheer on his Gortnor Abbey clubmates, who played their part in Lahardane's crucial victory.

His appearance is sure to fuel speculation over his involvement with Crossmolina in their upcoming championship clashes.

The maroon and white drew with Aghamore on Friday evening and Brian Benson's side will need a win against Mayo Gaels in a fortnight's time to put themselves in the best position to win the Moclair Cup.
