Mayo college opens doors to opportunity across the county

Mayo has always been a county defined by ambition, resilience and community spirit.

In recent months, those qualities have been celebrated on a national stage, bringing a renewed sense of pride and optimism across towns and villages throughout the county.

That sense of achievement extends beyond sport. It can be found in workplaces, businesses and classrooms where people continue to invest in themselves, their families and their futures through education and training.

As applications continue for September 2026, Mayo College of Further Education and Training is encouraging prospective learners of all ages to explore the wide range of opportunities available across its campuses and centres throughout Mayo.

An open day takes place at its centres on Wednesday, September 2, from 12 noon to 6 p.m.

Recognised as the Best Further Education Provider at the Education Awards 2026, Mayo College offers more than 300 courses, including QQI Level 5 and 6 programmes, apprenticeships, professional qualifications and part-time learning opportunities.

The college provides pathways to higher education, employment, career progression and lifelong learning.

One of the distinctive features of Mayo College is the range of international opportunities available to learners through the Erasmus+ programme.

Each year, learners have the opportunity to travel abroad for work placements, study visits and cultural exchanges across Europe, gaining valuable international experience while developing professional and personal skills.

These experiences enhance employability, build confidence and provide learners with a broader understanding of different cultures, industries and workplaces. For many participants, Erasmus+ becomes a life-changing experience that expands horizons and creates opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom.

Further Education and Training has become an increasingly popular choice for school leavers seeking practical routes to university and employment, while also supporting adults looking to upskill, reskill or pursue new career opportunities.

With strong links to industry and employers, Mayo College continues to develop programmes that respond directly to the needs of local communities and the regional economy.

From healthcare and business to engineering, technology, hospitality, creative industries and apprenticeships, learners have access to nationally recognised qualifications delivered by experienced and dedicated staff.

Education remains one of the most powerful investments a person can make. Whether the goal is securing employment, progressing to higher education, developing new skills or pursuing a lifelong ambition, Mayo College offers opportunities for every learner to achieve their potential.

With applications now open for September 2026, anyone considering their next step is encouraged to explore the full range of programmes available and submit their application online.
