Three hikers rescued from two Mayo mountains
A 'demanding' 48 hours for Mayo Mountain Rescue Team
The Mayo Mountain Rescue Team has reported 'a demanding 48 hours' during which it responded responded to three mountain incidents.
The incident took place at Croagh Patrick and Nephin and involved multiple casualties.
Tasked by An Garda Síochána, the team responded to a female hiker who had fallen while descending Croagh Patrick last Monday.
The casualty was assessed and subsequently stretchered safely from the mountain.
The Croagh Patrick Paths Team has contacted the emergency services and stayed with the casualty until mountain rescue arrived.
On Tuesday night, the team were tasked by An Garda Síochána to assist a male hiker on Nephin who required medical assistance.
A first response party made their way to the casualty, and he was subsequently stretchered safely from the mountain.
As the Nephin callout was ongoing, another party from the team were responding to a female hiker on Croagh Patrick who also required medical assistance.
A second stretcher team was deployed, and the casualty was safely evacuated from the mountain.
"We wish all three casualties a speedy and full recovery," a spokesperson for the Mayo Mountain Rescue Team stated.
