Meissner announced as a Mayo FC jersey sponsor

One of Mayo FC’s jersey sponsors this year is Meissner Filtration Products, based in Castlebar, writes Patrick Hennelly.

Meissner is a global leader in the design and manufacture of advanced microfiltration products and single use systems for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries. The company opened its first European facility in Castlebar in 2020.

Ballinrobe native John O’Shea, site lead and director of operations at Meissner, said the company was happy to partner with Mayo FC ahead of the club’s new adventure.

He explained: “Meissner is one of the newer companies to Mayo and we are happy to partner with Mayo FC to encourage participation in soccer and to give young people the opportunity to make the next step up to National League level in their own county.

“Meissner is a family-owned business by Christopher Meissner and Laura Meissner. Part of the remit when the company came to Mayo was not just to come here for profit, but to also enhance the communities where our employees are from.

“We do lots of community projects, and we are also involved with the Autism Camp and the Sunflower Children’s Hospice.”

John expects that Meissner employees will be regular supporters at Mayo FC games.

“We hope that people who work here will go along to the Mayo FC games with their kids and support the team. You never know, with a bit of momentum Mayo FC could progress through the ranks and over a period of time end up in the top flight of Irish football.

“Hopefully Meissner builds its success in Mayo alongside Mayo FC, and that we can continue this partnership long into the future.”

The Mayo FC home and away jerseys will soon be available to purchase at www.elverys.ie, and it is anticipated that Mayo FC jerseys will also be available in Elverys stores at a later date.

Mayo FC's first game in the FAI National League will be played today (Saturday) against St. Francis FC of Dublin at Umbro Park, Milebush, Castlebar, kicking off at 5 p.m.
