Mayo passengers have opportunity to shape future rail services

Minister Alan Dillon is encouraging people across Mayo to have their say in Irish Rail’s timetable consultation, which closes tomorrow Monday, September 14.

The consultation invites feedback on all routes ahead of proposed timetable changes in December, including services connecting Dublin with Westport and Ballina.

“This is an opportunity for passengers to explain what would make rail services work better for them,” Minister Dillon said.

“For students, that might mean a departure that fits around lectures or weekend travel. For commuters, it could be a later train after work or a better connection. Others may need more flexibility around appointments or visiting family.

“Whether it is frequency, departure times or connections, the people using these services should help shape what is needed. Give practical examples of the journeys you want to make and the gaps you experience.

“I encourage passengers from across Mayo to take part. I will continue raising their concerns with Irish Rail and the NTA and seeking improvements that reflect local needs.”
