Wet and windy conditions forecast for Mayo on Monday

MAYO is set for a wet start to the new week, with periods of rain expected across the county tomorrow.

The latest forecast indicates a cloudy and damp start, with outbreaks of rain developing across the county during the morning.

Rain is expected to become more persistent through the afternoon, with some heavy bursts possible at times.

Winds will also strengthen during the day, coming mainly from the south to southwest and becoming moderate to fresh.

Despite the unsettled conditions, temperatures will remain relatively mild for mid-September, with afternoon highs of around 17 to 18 degrees.

The rain is expected to gradually move eastwards later in the day, although further showers may follow.

Further unsettled weather is expected to remain in the forecast for much of the week, with western areas likely to see some of the highest rainfall totals.
