Green light given for redevelopment of vacant property in heart of Mayo county town

PLANS to bring a vacant building in the heart of Castlebar back into use have been given the green light.

It relates to a prominent site on Ellison Street - the former Ryan family property.

Local firm Yewtree Ventures Limited propose to change the use of the dwelling to form four ground floor offices/studios with two upper floor apartments within the existing building envelope.

A planning application for the works has been approved by Mayo County Council, clearing the way for another significant investment on a street that has suffered from dereliction in recent years.
