Mayo Minister Alan Dillon pays tribute to 'gentleman' Séamus Tuohy

Minister Alan Dillon has paid tribute to Mayo GAA chairman Séamus Tuohy on his passing.

He stated: "Séamus was a gentleman who gave so much to Breaffy and Mayo GAA, and always had time for people.

"From his early days with Breaffy, through his work at underage level and later as county chairperson he wanted the best for his club and county.

"He cared about the players, the volunteers and the communities behind every team.

"As a former Mayo player, I know how much the work done off the field matters. Séamus put huge effort into progressing the Centre of Excellence in Bohola and making sure future Mayo teams would have the facilities and support they need.

"I’m glad he got to see Mayo win the All-Ireland and help lead the homecoming celebrations. After all the years he had given to Mayo football, it was fitting that he could share in that happiness.

"Even while dealing with illness, he continued to give his time and energy to Mayo GAA.

"My thoughts are with his wife Marie, his son Evan, his daughter Shona, his grandchildren and all his extended family and friends. He will be greatly missed in Breaffy and across Mayo.

"Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis."
