New Mayo bridge completed as major flood relief works progress

A new bridge on a main route into Crossmolina has been completed as part of the town’s major flood relief scheme.

The new crossing on the R315 Crossmolina to Castlebar road marks another milestone in the long-running project, which is aimed at providing long-term flood protection for the community while improving local infrastructure.

Local councillor Michael Loftus welcomed the completion of the bridge and praised the work carried out by the Office of Public Works (OPW).

He said: “I wish to acknowledge the excellent work carried out by the Office of Public Works (OPW) in completing the new bridge crossing on the R315 Crossmolina to Castlebar Road as part of the Crossmolina Flood Relief Scheme.

“This is one part of the project that will provide long-term flood protection and improved infrastructure for the local community.”

The official opening of the new bridge will take place at a later date, he confirmed.
