Man fined €400 for failing to stop after hitting parked car in Mayo town
A Ballindine man has been fined €400 after he drove away from a collision with a parked vehicle in Kiltimagh.
Darren Brennan, Cloonmore, Ballindine, pleaded guilty at Castlebar District Court to failing to stop at Thomas Street, Kiltimagh, on Friday, October 3, 2025.
Sergeant Conor McShane told the court Brennan's vehicle collided with a parked vehicle. He did not stop at the scene.
Brennan told the court he wanted to go ahead with the case, despite having no representation. "I want it to be over and done with," he said.
Brennan said he was returning from a funeral. He met an articulated truck and misjudged it. He then saw people gather on the street.
He said he pulled in up the road for 20 minutes. He did not want to go into a crowd of people "roaring and shouting."
Judge Deane fined him €400 on the failure to stop charge. The other matters were taken into consideration.
