Young singers invited to join Mayo Children's Chorus

MUSIC Generation Mayo is inviting children aged 7-13 from across County Mayo to join the Mayo Children’s Chorus (MCC).

The eight-week programme offers young singers the opportunity to develop their vocal skills, build confidence, make new friends and enjoy the experience of singing together in a supportive and creative environment.

Led by experienced Music Generation Mayo music educators Finola Riley and Marcella Bourke, participants will explore a range of musical styles including pop, classical and traditional Irish music. Weekly rehearsals will culminate in a final performance, giving children the opportunity to showcase what they have learned over the course of the programme.

Parents are encouraged to consider the many benefits that participation in a choir can bring. Singing in a group helps children develop confidence, communication skills, creativity and teamwork, while providing a positive and enjoyable outlet for self-expression.

The Mayo Children’s Chorus aims to foster a lifelong appreciation of music and create memorable experiences that children will carry with them for years to come.

The Mayo Children’s Chorus forms part of the wide range of music education opportunities provided by Music Generation Mayo, which delivers performance music programmes for children and young people throughout the county.

Classes take place on Thursdays from 4 to 5 p.m. at Music West, Castlebar, beginning on October 15. The cost for the eight-week term is €48, with sibling discounts available.
