"I am so grateful," Mayo MEP welcomes birth of her baby daughter Nell Brigid

Mayo MEP Maria Walsh has announced the birth of her first child, a baby girl, Nell Brigid.

The Midlands-North-West representative confirmed the news on her social medial platforms.

“We are together and home,” Walsh stated.

“Nell Brigid Walsh, you are loved beyond words.

“My bright, shining light – the meaning of your first name.

“My force of nature – your middle name recognising our heroic St. Brigid.”

Walsh, a resident of Shrule, also paid tribute to her family.

“Our village has gathered. Mamó and Daideo already showing you the way.”

She thanked the medical team who cared for her throughout her pregnancy, as well as staff at University Hospital Galway.

“I feel so grateful, and I am in love,” Walsh added.

“Just call me Mama.”

Many messages of congratulations and best wishes have been extended to Maria and Nell Brigid.

Maria announced last May that she was expecting her first child, having conceived through IVF.
