Mayo set for sunshine and heavy showers as Storm Austen approaches
Mayo can expect a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers tomorrow, Wednesday, October 21, with some heavy downpours possible as unsettled weather continues across the country.
According to Met Éireann's latest forecast, Wednesday will bring a mixture of sunshine and showers across Connacht, with temperatures reaching between 9 and 12 degrees.
Moderate westerly winds will make for a breezy day, with some fresh and gusty conditions expected.
Tonight, rain will clear eastwards early in the night, leaving scattered showers in its wake.
Overnight temperatures will fall to between 5 and 9 degrees.
Looking ahead, Wednesday night will see further showers along the west coast before conditions become mainly dry overnight. Temperatures will drop to between 2 and 7 degrees.
However, a deterioration in conditions is expected on Thursday as Storm Austen approaches.
Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rain warning for the entire country, including Mayo, which will come into effect at 7 p.m. on Thursday and remain in place until 8 a.m. on Friday.
Heavy rain associated with the storm is expected to spread eastwards across Ireland, bringing the possibility of localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions and disruption to outdoor events.
Friday is forecast to remain blustery, with further sunshine and showers and temperatures of between 9 and 11 degrees.
